Cork walls are a super stylish way to add some texture, interest and warmth to a room. Cork is not only environmentally friendly and sustainable, but it's good for sound proofing and, of course, to use as a tack board if you like. It's available in many colors and patterns, and in the form of rolls, wallpaper or tiles. Phillip Jeffries has some great looking cork wallpaper, but it's not thick enough to use as a tack board. Amcork and Jelinek have tons of fantastic cork tiles, rolls and flooring in various thicknesses.
I needed a large tack board for my studio on which to pin tear sheets of furnishings, and samples of fabric, and paint and materials to see how it all works together. I don't have an entire wall that's suitable to cover with cork, but instead bought some thick cork tiles to make a large, frameless tack board on a smaller wall. The tiles just arrived and I love them! I can't wait to install them and put them to good use.
